I Asked ChatGPT-4o and Gemini Advanced to Generate a Meme for Writers
I made an experiment and I had to choose which AI would suit my needs. The results were hilarious. And my decision is made!
I’m now starting to be more active on X. I want to build my profile there to support my writing journey.
My ultimate target: enable full monetization. For that, I need:
500 followers — that’s feasible
5m organic impressions for the last 3 months — the real challenge
So far it was slow.
To get (and maintain) 5m impressions you need volume and quality content, the X-compatible type.
Every platform has its own “language”.
The good thing: I can use AI freely.
Before you judge: No, I’m not churning content from the AI and directly pasting it on social media. I developed my own AI content generation system to produce high-quality content fast. It’s granular: for each purpose, I train the AI in a dedicated Gemini chat or create a dedicated GPT. I described it here.
So for now I needed to choose which of my AI friends should help me specifically for building my X profile.
The dilemma: which AI to choose, Gemini Advanced or ChatGPT-4o? I was not going to train the AI in my own style and language before I made this decision. It’s a time-consuming process, so I wanted to be sure I bet on the right horse.
So I made an experiment with memes.
Why memes?
Because it’s the closest style to X.
I asked for two types of memes:
Sarcastic, provocative, and arrogant style
Standard funny style
Generating sarcastic memes about writers
Here’s the prompt I used with both AIs:
“Can you generate a sarcastic, provocative, and arrogant meme about writers? Give me a text description of the image and the texts for the actual meme”
For Geminin I had to specify explicitly that I only needed text for prompts for Midjourney, otherwise, I got an answer that it’s still not generating images, but working on it.
The first thing that I noticed was the name of the chat both AI’s generated:
ChatGPT-4o: “Arogant Meme Request”
Gemini Advanced: “Writers vs. Everyone Else”
You see it? As if Gemini already has a “personality”….
Let’s see the outputs.
I generated several memes, all were similar styles, I’m gonna share the best one from each AI to keep it short.
Gemini best response:
I love how Gemini described the Midjourney prompt. I used it in Midjourney, then made a meme in Canva — the final result should look something like this:
Ha! Good one!
Now, this one made me think…I need to give the AI a role. Why is it generating a meme of a programmer talking about writers?
Or it actually has a personality now?
My takeaway: I need to specify the point of view.
This was never needed for ChatGPT, let’s see how it did…
ChatGTP-4o best response:
Maybe because ChatGPT has it’s own image generation (which is way behind the quality of Midjourney), the image description is not so descriptive. But again, I used it as a prompt for Midjourney, then made a meme in Canva — the final result should look something like this:
This made my day, these AI’s now know how to entertain!
But here again, I have the 3rd party point of view, although the role is not specified.
So my takeaway is valid: I need to define roles and points of view of the conversation.
One more thing I noticed: both AIs went in the same direction: making the writers’ work less important, and insignificant. Probably because I asked for arrogance.
Let’s see what happens when I don’t put that limitation…
Generating funny memes about writers
I continued in the same chat for both AIs asking to generate now funny memes. And I’ve got this:
Gemini Advanced best response:
Again, I have a very good prompt for Midjourney. The final result should look like this:
Isn’t this our reality right now as writers 😆
Now that I didn't explicitly want sarcasm, Gemini created the meme from the point of view of the writer. Self-irony is one of the most powerful features when you need to create memes. The choice of the image is close to perfect.
I loved this one!
Let’s see what ChatGPT’s got…
ChatGPT-4o’s best result:
Hillarious!
The concept of the meme is amazing! I loved that one too! Again a pinch of a self-irony. And the pain is a spot-on.
The choice of the image can be elaborated, I’d go with something on fire.
To wrap it up
Gemini’s voice seems more engaging and sharp — exactly the one I need for a platform like X. ChatGPT is a good alternative for the texts, but not so much for the image choices.
My decision is made: I’m gonna go with Gemini for X.
What’s next: I’ll have to gather some super viral posts on X to train the AI with them and with my own articles to give it some of my “wisdom”.
I’ll also share with you exactly how I did that once I’m ready. Stay tuned!
