It’s Official: I’m Now in the $1000 Club!
It took me 4 months of consistent writing online to get there. My road to $1000+/month.
It’s been 4 months!
I started consistently writing on Medium on the 24th of February this year.
Since then I posted every single day.
I wrote 206 stories since then and I read 2000+ articles online.
During that time I also learned a lot.
I documented everything on a weekly basis and I shared every step of the way, you can find all 20 stories in that list:
Weekly Medium Stats Review

As much as I pushed myself, I still couldn’t get to the $1000 mark on Medium alone.
It’s getting harder here. I don’t know if it is a short-term measure or a long-term direction, but earnings have continued to drop since May.
Whatever it is, it’s something I expect to face on my journey.
Why?
Unstable environment
Because platforms and algorithms change all the time. There are many reasons behind this — from business through transformational to legal and regulatory. Take these for example:
Facebook changes algorithms in advertising a few times per year to improve ad revenues
Google changes rules for ranking websites on search results even more often to improve user experience and optimize crawling costs
Apple changes the rules for publishing new apps on the app store to comply with EU regulation
And those are already profitable companies. Not the case with Medium. That’s why we have so many shocking events happening lately:
Massively decreasing writer earnings
Counterintuitive UX changes leading to fewer views and reads for writers
A spree of leaving writers, some big names among them
A tsunami of suspended and revoked accounts from the MPP without notice
Largest publication ILLUMINATION about to shut down
Not to mention the new bugs and glitches almost every week.
Medium is struggling to survive. Profits are still a mirage. So I’d expect even more significant earthquakes in the near future.
In such an environment, you can’t keep all your apples in just one basket.
A new milestone achievement!
That’s why I actively started working on other platforms in June.
One is Substack.
And because of that, I can now proudly say I’m finally in the $1000 club!
An announcement:
I’ll also stop my Weekly Medium Stats Review on Medium because this content is limited to network-only distribution on Medium.
If so, I’d prefer to share it with my own network of emails on Substack.
At least I’m sure everyone gets it in their inbox and I don’t rely on Medium’s algo.
This is why I’m starting a monthly in-depth analysis column on my Substack, where I analyze monetization strategies and share results across all platforms I work with.
I’m staying on Medium.
My focus on Medium is to build my two new publications and continue growing CRAETIVETECH Friends — it has become a great place for Friends of Medium and it makes me more than happy to watch it growing!
I’ll also continue to write every day and share everything I learn while writing online.
But everything about my performance on Medium will be moved to Substack.
Here’s my first post in that column where I have an analysis of how I got to the 1k mark and a breakdown of my earnings from all platforms for June:

I’ve become a better person writing online. And I can’t wait to see how even better can I become in the future!
