One Simple Hack to Instantly Gain 100+ Likes on Your Substack Notes
High engagement = high conversion rate = more $$$
I used to think I was crushing it.
Pouring my heart into posts. Sharing insights. Posting consistently.
And then?
Crickets.
Meanwhile, some half-baked post I wrote in five minutes? Blew up.
Frustrating, right?
For a while, I thought the algorithm simply hates me.
But then, I realized something: It wasn’t about me at all.
My best content wasn’t my best—it was just the content that hit home for my audience. The kind that made them stop scrolling and think “Wow, this is exactly what I needed to hear today”.
Make it relatable.
It’s not optional. It’s the whole game.
Even the best content falls flat if it doesn’t hit the right pain points for your audience.
It needs to resonate.
You need to make it relatable.
I used to wonder why some of my posts performed better than others.
I’d pour my heart into a piece, only for it to get a "meh" response.
Then I realized I wasn’t truly listening to my audience.
The lesson I learned the hard way:
It's not about ME.
It's always about THEM.
And here's the thing: you can say one and the same thing in both ways:
from your own perspective - boring, no one cares about that
from the perspective of the reader - that's monetizable material, pure gold
Example:
From your perspective (the "look-at-me" trap):
"I’ve been posting consistently on social media for a while now, and I’m finally starting to see some growth. It feels great to have more people engaging with my content."From your reader’s perspective (the "I-need-this" hook):
"Struggling to grow an audience that actually engages? I was there too. Until I cracked a simple system that took me from posting into the void to gaining my first 1,000 engaged followers. Here’s how you can do the same."
See?
Same thing, different perspective. Huge difference.
So here’s what I do now: I don’t guess what my readers want.
I listen.
I’ve developed an approach to gather valuable audience insight to help me write more engaging content.
I use it with my custom Notes Writer GPT, which I trained to write viral Notes. I enhance its training with my audience insights and I get powerful results.
Here’s one of my Notes which already got 100+ likes:
Full disclosure: I edited this Note. But I got the idea from the GPT and that's priceless!
Today I’m no longer guessing what my audience wants.
I’m making data-driven decisions.
And you can too!
Even if you haven’t built your audience yet, you can still listen.
Here’s how…
