Few months ago when I started writing consistently online, I also started sharing my Medium stories on Social Media.
I’ve followed other successful writers’ (and Medium’s) advice.
It was supposed to bring me more views and reads, which I believe it did.
But now I stopped. I changed the plan.
Why?
One reason: I generate more traffic and (possibly) new subscribers for Medium, but not for me.
They get the long-term monetary effect, I get a few dollars.
The gain assets, I don’t.
What do I do instead?
I link my stories to my Substack.
I share my Substack stories.
This way I can:
reach more people
gain new subscribers
gain assets for me
And the best part? I love how Substack is automatically generating visual creatives for social media forms to share. Like this:
Some I can directly use on Pinterest!
That’s something no other writing platform offers! I simply love it!
So this is what I do now:
I link my Medium story to my Substack story
I share my Substack story on Social Media
So this is why I stopped sharing my Medium stories on Social Media.
And I also stopped using my FOM link at the beginning of my Medium stories. I described this here:

What do you mean when you say: I link my Medium story to my Substack story?
The use of Substack invitation links at the end of such articles is effective; a significant portion of my readership now comes from Medium.
