Write2Sell: Build Your Substack Paid Offer for High Conversion Rate [with Checklist]
New to Substack? Start here!
Your offer.
That’s where you need to start on Substack. It’s not growing your subscribers and then think how to monetize them. It’s the opposite.
That’s how you keep your conversion rates high.
Right now my conversion rates are growing at above Substack average level (5%-10%). But that wasn’t the case when I started.
It takes time to get there.
Here’s how it developed by acquisition channels:
My conversion rate from Substack organic channels is above 10% which is something I aimed for.
The conversion rate is also the reason why I don’t recommend gaining subscribers externally and importing them to Substack. The rates are lowest low, which is understandable since these people are new to Substack.
If you need help with growing on Substack organically, join my Notes30 Challenge - it has my whole strategy on how to use Notes and interact with others on the platform to grow consistently.
But before you get there, you need to have your Substack set and your paid offer clearly defined.
Why?
Simple.
If you don’t have a good offer for paid subscribers, people won’t buy when they’re most ready to buy: the moment they subscribe.
After that moment, your chances are slim.
Start with your offer first.
That's what I did first.
And that's what got me a Bestseller badge in just 3 months!
How your Substack journey should look like:
Research
Build your irresistible offer
Set-up your Substack for a high conversion rate
Gaining new subscribers, that are most likely to convert
Convert them to paid with value and consistency
Make sure you retain them with engagement
About research…
I’ve done extensive research on Substack bestsellers and I made some interesting discoveries:
About what people pay for on Substack - read more here
About how often should you write - read more here
And some case studies - read more here
But…
As much as I’d like to help, still you need to do your own research within the niche you’re in. You can get some inspiration about how to do it and what to look for from my posts above.
Once you’ve done that, you’ll be ready to build your irresistible offer.
Before we deep dive, one thing I need to make clear:
If you’re just sharing your experiences, you’ll find it difficult to monetize. People pay because they need something in return.
Don’t get me wrong: your experiences are your diamonds. But that diamonds need to be polished. You only need to transform them into an irresistible offer. One that’s a no brainer to buy.
Here’s what your checklist looks like:
Now let’s get more clarity on each of those elements.
